Season's Shot - SPRING

The season that I chose to work with is Spring because I wanted a picture that I can add a lot of flowers and butterflies to. My friend, GABY, loves the color green so she came to the shoot in a green dress which is p e r f e c t for the season. She was an amazing model and she looks amazing too! She was even sick this day and you can't even tell!! The brushes I decided to use were flowers and butterflies because I felt they were the best brushes to symbolize spring. However, I wish that I knew how to make the stems green and change the color of the flowers. To help me choose the color I wanted to use, I used a color pallet. Overall, I feel this picture came out great.

Digital: Self-Portrait w/ Graphics

This is my fantastic model Emilyn! I thought she would be perfect for this Self-Portrait, so that is why I wanted to use her. As you can see, our photoshoot went really well. Once we finished the photoshoot, part of our project was to go onto photoshop essentials to find ways to retouch the photo. The purpose was to make our model look like a star :). While I was on photoshop essentials I found some really cool techniques that I decided to use such as: teeth whitening, making the face look smoother, and my favorite...applying make-up! I added eyeliner and eye shadow. This process took me mulitple times to get it right, but I did it! Secondly, we had to create a 8 x 11 white background and use brushes to create neat effects to add to the portrait. I first added the cloud effect as my first layer, the star/diamond effect as my second layer, and the stars as my third & fourth layers. Then, I had to flatten the portrait of Emilyn in order to add it to the new 8 x 11 background. Once I did that, I added brown effects to bring out the eye shadow color and the color of the hidden flower on Emilyn's head-band. Overall, I thought this project was pretty fun & can't wait to be assigned more!

Elements of Design

This is my Elements of Design Photography project. For the elements of design, the purpose was to take pictures that consisted of shape, texture, color, space, and lines. For the line photograph, I didn't want to take a picture of a single line because it would make the photo really boring. So, I found something outside of my house that has crazy lines but looks pretty. For color, I wanted to get something with a beautiful mixture of colors.. it isn't a variety of colors, but it still looks good. As for texture, there isn't a lot of nature that consists of texture so I had to put something together that would draw our eyes to it. So I picked a simple, very light texture background & a shirt that stands out due to the colorful polka dots. I didn't have a picture that illustrates shape, so I had to wait till I got to school to look for something that uses shape. I found these benches that are shaped into a square with a circular trash can in the center. I thought it was perfect to get a shot of! & lastly, MY FAVORITE, is the space photo that shows isolation. I'm not really a huge person when it comes to nature, but when I looked into my yard and found this blooming, beautiful flower with the dead one in the background I thought it was perfect for space. The flowers' stem stretches making it further from the rest of the plant which categorizes it as isolation. Overall, I am enjoying digital photography. It was hard putting it all together & adding graphic design.. but in the end, I was satisfied. I am looking forward to continuing digital work in photo class. The end result, GORGEOUS!

playing w/ photoshop [:

Playing with Photoshop was the title of this project, we had to take a picture of ourself and add things that Ms. Miles wanted us to put. I don't really like taking pictures, so I just did a funny one :) It was required that we don't put the picture of us in the middle, so I put mine to the side. Ms. Miles wanted us to pick a letter from our name & add it to our picture; I picked "J" of course becase that is the first letter of my name. Secondly, we had to put a number; I picked three b/c it is my favorite. Thirdly, we had to add two filter effects to our photo. I used the colored pencils effect (i think), it made the background look more cool. And I also used the grain effect for the layer of me. I used three different layers: 1) the background layer. 2) the photo of me layer. 3) the layer for the number & letter. Overall, I am happy w/ the way my work came out. I now know how to work w/ photoshop more. I am excited to do another task like this!

fashion photos :) favorite...

TEEN VOGUE: Ms. Miles assigned her photography 1-2 class a Fashion assignment. In my group was Israel, Bianca, and I. I decided to use Bianca as my model & her pictures came out BEAUTIFUL! She looks very pretty :) I decided not to use the strobe light because I wanted to use the outdoors as my background. For the picture that has Bianca posing with the tree, I wished I worked out better lighting. However, she still came out pretty. When it came to editing these photo, I wanted to do something that magazines usually do. They add a description of the clothing and state its price. In the end, I like how everything turned out.
